I have spent the last seven months in the coolest job in education: designing Blackstone Valley Prep High School with the support of the Network Leadership Team, scholars, families, and current teachers & staff! We have discussed course offerings, extracurricular activities, uniforms and a ton of other topics, but no subject has occupied more of our time than attracting and retaining talented teachers. Talented teachers are one of the biggest reasons for BVP's past successes, and we believe they will play just as important a role at our new high school.
Today, I am excited to introduce you to the first teacher on our High School Team! Andrew Hartnett will be our founding ninth grade science teacher (Physics First). I'll let him tell you a little bit more about himself, below.
More about Mr. Hartnett:
Mr. Hartnett has been studying physics for more than 10 years, first at the University of Notre Dame and most recently at Princeton University. He is currently studying social collectives like schools of fish, bird flocks, and human crowds, an area of interest for both biology and swarm robotics. He has taught summer programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Boston Museum of Science, as well as traditional and lab courses at Princeton. In his free time, he likes playing soccer & basketball and travelling the world.
