It is no secret that I do not like closing school. In fact, I wrote about my angst over the whole process twice, the first time in 2012 and the second time exactly a year ago this .
Out of this context came #BVPsnowday. Inspired by the popular #edchatri, #BVPsnowday is a twitter chat that we started as a way to bring the BVP community together when weather had other plans.
Yesterday, #BVPsnowday posed the following questions:
Q1: What are your "go to" teaching resources (websites, person, book)? Q2: What are the best strategies for scholar engagement?
Q3: How do you KNOW your scholar is learning?
Q4: How do/can/should we better support #ELLs?
Q5: When do you feel most supported in your work with scholars?
Q6: Offer a Six Word Story about how your school is or will prepare scholars for success in college & world beyond.
If you missed us, you will just have to read the whole chat here, or be sure to join in next time (which I hope won't be for a long time). To follow the discussion, simply use a program like tweetchat.com, plug in the #bvpsnowday, and post away!
I doubt I will ever feel good about closing school, but the discussion this has sparked from staff, parents, and other tweeters has made my #bvpsnowday(s) more enjoyable and purposeful.
Looking forward #seeing you next time :)
