It seems pretty rare that someone I know and work with closely, here in little Rhode Island, is recognized for great work on a national level. A few years ago Commissioner Gist brought a national spotlight to the work of improving educational opportunities in Rhode Island when she was named to the 2010 Time Top 100.
Today, news broke about someone else here in Rhode Island doing tremendous work on behalf of young people. The Walton Family Foundation named Michael Magee, Ph.D., CEO of the Rhode Island Mayoral Academies, as an Education Reformer to Watch. The announcement was picked up by the Providence Journal, and certainly the Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy community could not be more proud.
On behalf of our scholars (including your three daughters - College Classes of 2023, 2026, and 2029), families, and staff, congratulations for the great work that you do!
Great job, Mike!
